What are the reasons behind Tyreek Hill’s call for the officer’s firing

The current few days have been a bizarre experience for the Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill. He was handcuffed and detained by Miami-Dade Police just before his opening game on Sunday. Although the detention was temporary and Hill scored a ravishing 80-yard touchdown starring in a close win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

On the field, he has been pretty impressive but Off-field Hill was pulled over by Miami-Dade police officers for a minor traffic violation. Making things worse the police officers released bodycam footage on Tuesday showing the row between officers and Hill. Hill was even dragged out of his car. The entire saga brought an arising question to public notice how the police officers treat the normal public.

Hill via his lawyer has released a statement calling for "the termination of the officer who has been placed on administrative leave" following the incident.

On at least two occasions, the escalating officer placed his hands on or around Mr Hills neck during the traffic stop. "We are of the opinion that the officer's use of force was excessive, escalating, and reckless. We are demanding that the officer be terminated effective immediately. "The events that occurred on Sunday September 8 are just a reminder of the realities of the many injustices that people of black and minority communities face at the hands of law enforcement." the statement read.

"While we are in no way accusing the officer of being racist, we are accusing the customs and practices of law enforcement from a historical standpoint of being discriminatory and oppressive to black and minority communities. We cannot ignore this fact and remain silent on the issue just because it's a tough conversation," the statement added.

Hill was also given two penalties by the Miami-Dade Police Department, one of which was for careless driving with a "high rate of speed visual estimation of 60 mph. Hill received a citation for failing to buckle up as well.

Dolphins statement

The Dolphins also stood tall in solidarity with their player. They released a statement for the incident

"As is on full display in the videos released tonight, there are some officers who mistake their responsibility and commitment to serve with misguided power. "While we commend MDPD for taking the right and necessary action to quickly release this footage, we also urge them to take equally swift and strong action against the officers who engaged in such despicable behavior," the team said.

 

The incident

 

Tyreek Hill was pulled over by police for speeding, clocked at 60 mph, while driving a McLaren sports car near Hard Rock Stadium. During the stop, Hill repeatedly refused to keep his window down, expressing concern about drawing attention. Officers insisted he keep the window open and, when he did not comply, they threatened to break the window and forcibly removed him from the vehicle. 

 

Hill, who cited physical injuries as a reason for his slow movements, was handcuffed and placed on the ground. Despite his protests, officers handled him roughly, and his teammates Jonnu Smith and Calais Campbell were also involved, with Smith being ordered to move his SUV and Campbell briefly handcuffed. Hill and Campbell were eventually released, and Hill was given a ticket before entering the stadium.
